Academic & Work Experiences
Understanding people to understand profits
During the first year of my undergrad at Western University, I remember sitting in my first year economics class and being stunned to hear that economists’ predictions can be incorrect. What’s more interesting, is the ‘why.’ Economists are often wrong because they misunderstand the complexities of human behaviour and human psychology.
This fact motivated me to study both Sociology and Finance so I could understand what economists seemed to overlook; the human experience. My degree helped me understand how markets work, the social trends that motivate them and most importantly how people spend.
Skills: Financial Literacy, Analyzing Social Trends, Researching and Critical Thinking.
Technology & operations at rbc
Throughout my academic career, I got the opportunity to work at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) as a Business Analyst in various roles. My first two summers were in the Project Management Office (PMO) where I ran skill building campaigns, managed timelines and made some beautiful PowerPoints. However, I wanted to expand my creativity skills and build something completely unique which lead me to RBC’s Amplify Program.
During this summer, I acted as the account manager for a team of developers and data scientists who sought to build a digital product. At the top 6 ceremony, our efforts and ability to overcome challenges was recognized as we were presented the ‘biggest pivot’ award. Through this process I fell in love with account management, but wanted to pursue a career where the output is something I’m truly passionate about: art.

a decade in service
When I started working at the front desk of a local sewing shop at 14, I didn’t realize I was beginning a decade long career in service. Whether it’s managing alteration appointments, seating customers, serving them breakfast or making them coffee, I always get to know my customers.
Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with customers has helped me better understand people from all walks of life.
